RUNES
In terms of Psychic readings, Runes are stones that have ancient symbols carved onto them. The Psychic conducting the reading draws the runes out of a satchel at random, and they are arranged in a pre-determined pattern, usually face down. They are then revealed one at a time, and interpreted, just as they were in ancient times by the Shaman (priest or priestess).
Historically, Runes are the ancient alphabetical symbols of the ancient Germanic peoples. Their use spread throughout Northern Europe and Scandinavia between the 3rd and 14th Centuries. It is believed the word “Rune” is derived from the Old Norse run meaning “mystery”. Runes were carved on personal property and gravestones, not just on stones for the purpose of divination. |

Although no longer used as an alphabet, Runes are still used as an Oracle. An Oracle is any means by which people communicate with the Spirits through a Medium. To consult an Oracle, be it the Tarot, Astrology, I-Ching or Runes, is to directly expose our conscious minds to those areas of our thought processes which usually remain hidden. These days it may be said to provide a bridge to the subconscious. The purpose of any Oracle therefore is to reveal our own inner mysteries, our own True Self, and thus become a key to Self Transformation. Only through Self Knowledge can we choose a path that accords with our Divine purpose. |
